Thanks to the grant we recently received from Food Co-op Initiative, we are looking to engage the services of a part-time outreach coordinator to work on boosting our membership numbers and increasing our visibility.
OUTREACH COORDINATOR JOB POSTING
This is a part-time position reporting to the board of directors. The primary responsibility is to increase ownership and raise public awareness of Bay City Cooperative Market. This includes coordinating our marketing efforts via public outreach and education about food issues and cooperative enterprises.
Terms and benefits
The outreach coordinator will be paid for hours worked up to 20 hours per week at $15 per hour. Schedule must be flexible including some evening/weekend availability.
This is a contractual position starting Nov. 13, 2017 and ending Oct. 1, 2018, including a probationary period of 90 days. As a contractual position, no benefits or office space will be provided. Occasional travel may be required; the coordinator will be responsible for personal transportation. No taxes will be paid; the coordinator will be provided with a Form 1099 for tax purposes.
— Recruit owners through personal contact, speaking to groups, events, phone calls, and networking.
— Cultivate relationships and establish partnerships with local businesses, organizations, civic groups and food producers to educate them about the co-op and to further increase membership.
— Increase the visibility of Bay City Cooperative Market locally.
— Engage and coordinate member-owners and/or volunteers to assist in recruitment efforts.
— Coordinate with the co-op’s social media director on postings.
— Report regularly on progress to the board of directors.
Preferred qualifications and skills
— Experience in project coordination, volunteer engagement, outreach, marketing or community organizing.
— Highly organized, attention to detail, time management and planning skills.
— Written and oral communication skills that will engage diverse audiences in the co-op’s mission.
— Basic understanding of the cooperative business model.
— Social media skills.
— Ability to self-direct with minimal supervision.
— Involvement in local community.
— Flexible availability including nights and weekends as needed for events.
